History:


The first luncheon meeting, marking the provisional formation of the club, was held at the Regal Restaurant on 5th April 1934.

The club was inaugurated on 26th July 1934, the meeting being held at The Railway Hotel in Beckenham. The Club was elected to membership of Rotary International on the 18th October 1934, as Member Club #3713 and #402 of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI).

District 12 Chairman, AJ Southam, presented the Charter to the Founder President, Bill Harte at the Charter Dinner held in the Public Hall, Beckenham on 28th November 1934. The 'welcome into Rotary' on behalf of Rotary International was given by Sidney Pascall, the first Rotarian from the British Isles ever to hold the Office of President of Rotary International.

In 1984 The Club celebrated its Golden Jubilee and in 1994 its Diamond Jubilee.

Membership

Our membership contains mainly business and professional people includes both active and retired individuals. Currently we have 40 regular members - but we are always looking for more! So if you feel you would like to be part of our fellowship please contact us.
