SPDD School Building in India

During Rotary Year 2006/7, Beckenham Rotary Club ran a series of events to support PP Brian Dibb’s chosen charity – The Joe Homan Charity (http://www.joehoman.org.uk) .  This charity is one that had been supported for many years by one of the club members Rtn George Sly.

The purpose was to raise enough money to be able to build a new accommodation block at a school run under the auspices of the Society for Poor People Development in south India.  We can report that the new building was formally opened by the SPPD Chairman on 19th August 2008.
The local Non-Government Organisation and all the children are very pleased with end result that will allow more of them to live comfortably whilst receiving quality education.
The club arranged for a plaque to be erected on the building to indicate that it had been funded by Beckenham Rotary Club and to recognise the long term support given by George Sly to the Joe Homan Charity.
